11 Years of Transforming Health Solutions

About Tripura

Tripura is a state in North-East India, is rich in culture, around 19 tribes in the state choose to live in forest areas and are known to practice and believe in folklore and mythology. As culturally strong as it is, the state presents a fair share of challenges to implementers. During the COVID-19 vaccination drive, the MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity team, supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), experienced barriers such as high vaccine hesitancy, negative media messaging about COVID-19 vaccination, language barriers, geographical inaccessibility, the lack of information and sometimes misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine and its adverse effects. To address these challenges, the project team conducted intensive IPC, engaged local leaders in social mobilization, and shared correct information about COVID-19 vaccination among communities.
